My boys love to get down and get dirty. Daily it seems. I know that there are some people out there that think I'm uptight and that I never let my kids get dirty. I wanted to post these pictures to prove that- at home at least- it's just not true. I'm a little more uptight about it when we're out of town- just because we see people that we don't usually see... I want our friends/family to see that my kids CAN be cute... Of course if you are a regular reader of the blog... you know that for the most part- I am raising three little hell-ians that put on a nice face ONCE IN A WHILE.
Anyway... that said... we have a giant dirt patch in our backyard right now. Our landlord took out a falling-apart-gazebo a few weeks ago and told us we could do what we wanted with the space. We are going to put a swing set up eventually... but for now- it's the cheapest and easiest entertainment my boys have seen since we left our sandbox behind 9 months ago.
The mud pit was found innocently enough. One of Ty's chores is to water the garden. Well... the garden is next to the dirt. And once he found that Water plus Dirt equals Mud... It was Mud-tastic from there on out. My two boys spend ample time outside playing in it each day. Shaun thinks we don't even need the swing set now...

I love it! My boys would be all over the mud too (they usually are just as happy with plain old dirt).
Deja needs to come play at your house....we've got all the dirt she could ever need for a great mud pit, but we're lacking the awesome mom to let her make the mess!! :)
