Ahhh- Outside at Last!!

Do you know what I love about Grandma's house? The fact that not one thing is the same as at our house. And since everything is so different- it gives Ty something new to do and he quits driving me nuts. This last weekend we drove to Declo to spend a few days with Grandma Jacki and Papa. Since it's early spring- the sheep farm (is it a farm or a ranch?) down the street was "lambing"- meaning there was a bunch of cute little brand new sheep running around down there- and Papa couldn't help but take Ty to see them. These little lambs were so cute- and I would have taken one home if I wasn't certain that the neighbors might not think it was such a good idea. Ty was a little shy and totally freaked out when the babies started licking his fingers. He was convinced that they were trying to eat him.

Saturday afternoon, Shaun and his brother Chad thought it would be really "fun" (I think they were really thinking that it would be funny and entertaining for themselves) to take Jeni and I shooting. I've shot before- but it was a long time ago-and frankly- I'm not a big fan of shotguns. They kick when you shoot and it always makes my shoulder hurt- I'm not a big fan of pain either. But in the interest of doing something that Shaun loves to do... I came, I saw, I shot and I hurt my shoulder. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had been able to hit something besides the air next to the target... Maybe next time.

The other fun thing about Declo is all the time we got to spend outside!! There was no snow there (unlike our house- which still has 2-3 feet in our front yard)- so we stayed outside almost the whole time. Ty likes to "help" Papa feed the cows- and this time spent most of the time actually in the manger. I don't know that the cows were too thrilled to have a two year old in their dinner- but they managed to avoid him for the most part. It was a really fun weekend and it really made me want all of the snow at our house to MELT! I'm so ready for spring- it's killing me. That's one of the things that I really miss about Boise. It did snow there, but then it would rain and get rid of all the snow a few days later. It was nice. You got to throw a snowball and then it was gone. I went outside the other day, here at home, and actually tried breaking up some of the bigger snowdrifts in the hopes that it would help it melt faster- but there's just nowhere to put it. Stupid snow. I'm coming to Houston- you better get your couch ready Erica!!

What a fun weekend. We live for the weekends! I'm glad you got a taste of spring. It really is so wonderful to be outside. That's all the kids really want - outside to run around. By the way, you look wonderful. Just so cute and pregnant. Can't wait to see you soon!!!

You know Jess, you're always welcome to come here to sunny CA as well. It has been sunny, spring weather with the flowers in full bloom, green leaves on the trees and 65+ degrees for at least a month here. I guess you really do pay to live in CA. Preston and Sylvia love to play at the parks and helps keep me sane as well so I'm glad we live here for now. We have a nice comfy futon to sleep on if you ever want it! Good luck waiting for that snow to melt.
